Next July 25 (Monday)Instituto de Medicina Molecular João Lobo Antunes and the EpiEpiNet project in partnership with the Liga Portuguesa contra a epilepsia will receive the visit of the prestigious neuroscientist Dr. Phil Haydon at iMM.
He will give a talk at the Auditorium 52 (-1 floor), Edifício Egas Mo
niz, Hospital de Santa Maria at 16:00 entitled “Glial Support Cells and their role to suppress seizures”
& “Sail for Epilepsy”.
Phil Haydon is chair of the Department of Neurosciences at Tufts University School of Medicine, in Boston andhis research group studies a range of neurological disorders, including epilepsy.
Some of his published studies have led to innovation in neurosciences, demonstrating that glial cells are active participants in brain signaling in health and disease.
Furthermore, Phil has started the non-profit organization Sail For Epilepsy with a mission to inspire people with epilepsy to take One More Step towards achieving a fuller life.
For that, Phil and the Sail For Epilepsy team are crossing the Atlantic in a sailing boat.
During their stay in Lisbon they will tell us more about their adventure as well as Phil’s research!
The Talk will be followed by a Get Together at 17:15 at the iMM terrace with snacks and drinks available at the iMM terrace. This network activity is open to non-iMM participants
